Lack of resources for systems-wide approaches

Source of power:

State

Space of power:

GOVERNANCE, FUNDING AND VISION

Description:

Participants felt they as practitioners were "good” at targeting singular issues, such as crime, antisocial behaviour, alcohol issues, and areas, such as Broad Green, but did not have the resources for "big bang", whole-system or whole-city approach. They noted that the Pubwatch in Swindon's Old Town is active and 'invested' but there is a lack of this investment/work in other areas.

Quotes from participants:

"we’re good at targeting things, like we’re going to be targeting Broad Green very soon and I don’t know whether by targeting things that’s a good way... we haven’t got the resources for a big bang"
"...there’s pockets of good stuff, right, but it’s not affecting the whole, so we’ve got some good practice that might be useful to help in the future, but it’s not widespread.”
