Police taking more action on crime and street drinking

Source of power:

State

Space of power:

SAFETY, CRIME, POLICING AND ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

Description:

Participants felt police are taking more action now with respect to safety and crime, particularly in the nighttime economy. This is especially evident in the Old Town but the police are also doing “more" in Swindon’s New Town. They felt police officers should ensure public space protection orders (PSPO) are being maintained, by preventing people from drinking alcohol on the street.

Quotes from participants:

“…policing is also there to safeguard people... engaging with people who are likely to commit antisocial behaviour so that you can try and push them towards... street pastors and... get them out of town..."
