Funding gap for culture quarter

Description:

There is perceived to be limited funding available to create more cultural diversity in the NTE. Council plans for a cultural quarter were shelved as the feasibility work indicated a massive funding gap. The 'principle' of culture remains a focal points for the regeneration of the town centre, though this is more focused on 'existing' cultural facilities and venues.

Quotes from participants:

"...the idea of a cultural quarter’s been shelved, but the principle of culture playing a big role in the new generation of town centre these days [has remained], more organic, more looking at the existing cultural facilities..."
